KARINA RODRIGUEZ DEL REY

Hello there. My name is Karina Rodriguez del Rey and I am the president and CEO of K Associates Design landscape design. I have been doing design my whole life with over 8 years now of personal and professional experience.

MY BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION

I am a landscape designer who’s been working on becoming a licensed landscape architect as a personal and professional goal. Originally, I am from Boston MA. When my family moved to California, we moved from apartment to apartment when I was young and when my parents first bought their home in Corona, my dad was showing me pictures of the backyard and asked me to design something since he knew I had an interest in design work at a young age. That task is what sparked my passion and hunger for designing homes. Originally, I wanted to become an architect and design houses. I pursued my dream at first by getting my associates degree for Mt. San Antonio Community College along with a few certificates in design. When Transferring to Cal Poly Pomona, I then found out there was a degree program for Landscape architecture and that’s where everything started. I soon after received my bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture and while in school is when I decided to get my feet wet by hoping into the field. I taught myself the necessary programs needed to design landscapes then started to reach out to companies to gain that professional experience by interning or doing part time work while in school. With the knowledge learned, I started my business and partnered with my local contractors to offer my services. Without all of these experiences, I would not be where I am today and for that I am forever grateful.

DESIGN PHILOSPHY

I believe that our living spaces either it be inside or outside are so important to how we live and feel in our everyday lives. We make so many memories within our spaces either it be bringing home your first child, turning in your last paper for grad school, or just finding yourself within the comfort of your home.

Not only are we living in these spaces everyday but whatever we put on this earth is here to stay for a very long time so it’s important to think about sustainability. When I say sustainability, it doesn’t mean a completely desert-scape barren landscape, it’s a ecologically balanced environment for yourself and is appropriately designed for the respective area you are in. I want you to feel not only comfortable in your outdoor space but also feel like its thriving and suiting your lifestyle. From the moment we first meet to the very end of construction and whatever feedback you have even months after construction, I listen very intently to all of your needs and give ways of how they can be fulfilled.

I believe that in order to make you as the client feel good about your yard, not only am I listening to your design needs and keeping budget in mind as best as possible, but I'm also thinking of the functionality, longevity and reality of your yard long term. I don’t want you to only be happy in the moment but also for years to come and to ensure you made the right decision with a successful landscape.
